Funke Akindele
According to fresh gist getting to NigeriaFilms.Com from a bird in the know, Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele of Jenifa fame engaged fellow actress, Sugar Asoegwu in a hot fight in Abuja recently. Narrating the hot gist to NigeriaFilms.Com by the ever watching eagle eye bird, who happily divulged this information to us, Funke was reported to have shown negative attitude to Sugar, who straight away rained heavy words on the Glo and So Klin ambassador. We were told that Funke was expecting Sugar to worship and tremble at the sight of her, as an A-list and accomplished actress. This we learnt got Sugar filled with rage and was reported to be ready for a show down with the Omo Ghetto crooner. Trouble started when Funke learnt that Sugar was given a lead role by the movie producer in a movie Funke was given a sub lead character to play. A development we learnt Funke saw as a slap on her person as an A-list actress in the industry. Our informant went further to reveal to us that Funke accused Sugar of dating the movie producer (names withheld), as a result, getting the lead character for the movie, while she got the supporting actress role. Funke was said to later sworn not to feature in any movie by the producer or act in any movie Sugar is billed to be part of. This allegation by Funke was said to have infuriated Sugar the more, who almost descended on The Return of Jenifa producer, promising to teach her a lesson of her life. It took the intervention of those on set to quench the imminent trouble. Funke was right to be angry.You don't expect any A-list actor to be a sub lead character,it's done only if the A-list actor is featuring as Special guest star.What was the producer thinking? That Funke will settle for second best? Well this is a case of "aifagba f'enikan, nii ko je k'ayegun". Meaning "it is lack of respect for elders that turn this world upside down". Funke, no doubt, is highly experienced and had achieved a great deal in the industry more than the other actress. So for real, Funke deserved some respect from her, trust MEE. But because of "etanu" and "owu" i.e. pride and envy that the new actress has been nursing in her mind towards Funke prior to getting to the location influenced her disrespect for Funke, no doubt. Sugar did not give herself the role. It was given to her by the Producer. If anything, Funke should have approached the Producer, and not Sugar. If leading role is preserved to already established actors and actresses, when will the aspiring ones get the opportunity to play the leading role. If this has been , Funke would still have been aspiring too, because the same rule would have been applied, and I am sure those before her would have been taking that advantage over her. According to one of the commentators, let the young grow.

She might not have given herself the role but she had to sell her soul by all means necessary to use what she have to get what she want (p********e).... There are actresses out there that work real hard and to a good damn job by earning their prompts in Nollywood.. If those that FUNKE met in the film industry have done this to her. she wouldn't have become a star. So, why should she now be blocking another upcoming one when those she met forward doesn't do that to her? What are we fighting for?
