Nigerian Muslim tries to blow up Northwest Airlines airliner

Abdul Mudallad, a Nigerian Muslim flying on board a Northwest airliner from Amsterdam to Detroit tried to ignite some kind of mystery powder and blow up the plane. He was tackled by some of his fellow passengers before the power could do whatever it was intended to do.
He has told investigators that he was acting on the behalf of Al-Qaeda.
Good thing there were some able bodied passengers on hand to give Abdul Mudallad the beating he richly deserved. It’s not like the flight attendants could have done it. If there’s one thing we learned on September 11, 2001, it was that flight attendants that weigh 105 lbs might be pretty to look at, but they are entirely unless when it comes to stopping a Saudi with a box cutter.
If it was up to me, I would have taken the billions of dollars TSA spent staffing pointless checkpoints and shoe inspectors and instead used it to pay former Army Rangers and other military types to be flight attendants. Not coffee. tea, or me type of flight attendants made popular in the 1950’s and 60’s, but flight attendants for the new century. Flight attendants that might not know how to make you a good Bloody Mary, but they would know how to kill you with a pencil.
First, it's 4*9 scams, now it's attempting to blow up airplanes. I applaud those passengers who gave him a sound beating, don't think because you're going to America, it will be abuse. A big thank you to those passengers, I feel happy knowing his parents would do worse.

This is sad news for all those trying to bring nigeria in a good light. This is 10 steps backwards. The sad part is the good hardworking Nigerians will suffer for this f**l's consequences. Now American Embassy will have the more reason to deny visas based on how they feel. Companies will have the more reason to deny nigerians credibility. Good luck to young nigerians seeking visas. The recomendation is simple: American Consulates worldwide should henceforth refuse entry visas to any moslem from Nigeria, particularly those with names familiar with the Al-Qaeda descent. All peace-loving Nigerians strongly condemn this act of insanity and recommend that Farouk Mutallab be brought to justice. We also urge serious investigation into the matter because many Nigerians are not convinced that the boy is truly a Nigerian. In Nigeria, anything is possible through monetary influence. There have been other nationals from the neighboring Islamic countries who were able to obtain Nigerian passports by bribing Nigerian immigration officials. it is suspected that Farouk is a beneficiary of the rot of the corrupt Nigerian state where anything is possible through money.

All of my comments are not to cast aspersion on the image of Islam as a religion. The issue is that the extremists among them continue to soil the image of Nigeria among the comity of nations. While some of us Nigerians in diaspora are privileged to escape the tragic events in Nigeria, we feel strongly for the plight of our brothers and sisters back home. The crime committed by Farouk Mutallab will not only further batter the image of Nigeria worldwide, it will further impoverish the plight of the suffering Nigerian masses. We trust that the current development will further attract the attention of the White House in dealing with the ills of Nigeria- it is time for the redemption of Nigeria: from the nefarious activities of Islamic fundamentalists, theiving politicians and other criminals in power who continue to enrich themselves at the expense of the suffering masses!

Yes it was a coincedience that he happened to be a Nigerian. I know that it gives Nigeria hard place negative news in the media and International since it was International Flight. Yes but anyone could have been from any country but it does give Nigeria BAD NAME FOR MANY ADD ON IT TO!!. He was trainnined in the Middle East in Dubai. So His father was aware of his radical views and warned then so it is the US Embassy fault because they claimed he was on the list but amongst over 500,000 with his name on their too. He should have been ON NO FLY INTERNATIONAL FLYING LIST. I thought it was someone from the Middle East too.
