Saharareporters has identified the family of Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab, the 23 year old would–be bomber of Northwest Airline flight 253, who was arrested yesterday in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Muttallab, who is currently the chairman of First Islamic bank, JBI, in Nigeria, sits on the board of that bank with Dr. Rilwan Lukman, the Minister of Petroleum resources. He has two wives. The younger Muttallab lives in a £4 million pounds apartment in Central London, although he is only a student. The apartment, Flat 16, no 2 Mansfield Street in London, W1G9NE is registered to a US company and has been raided by UK security agents today. Many of them built big and fine houses in Ghana from the big money they made in Nigeria. While their women were shameless whores , Ghanaian men who were employed as drivers and servants repaid their Nigerian bosses by stealing thousands of cash, cars and household and office equipment and carting them away to Ghana ! Nigeria was so kind to Ghana that when we expelled them because of their nefarious activities, we gave them free travelling bags (GHANA -MUST-GO BAGS ) to pack their miserable properties and leave. When they were expelled from Nigeria , they went with their bad character to seek asylum in Europe, Canada, U.S., Britain and all over the world . Tell you what, I believe this nationalistic display is nothing but sham. What the world demands is that you place your act in order but instead, there you go talking about money and stuff rather than concentrate on cultural values, integrity, national pride as your motivating factors to drive change... Yes, undeniably, Nigeria had huge resources, massive opportunities, especially in the 70s and continues to have more than any other country in the sub-saharan Africa, but what have you achieved so far even amidst all the natural endowment when the basic catalyst (electricity and water) for growth are grossly lacking. While you continue to blame your government for your misfortune, your government are not the ones indiscriminately, rolling out scam letters through google search engine, abducting innocent people for ransom, etc. I can go on-and-on. This was almost ten (10) whooping years away. I never in my life welcomed the thought of witnessing a whole nation decaying into the world of beggars let alone Ghana, a land filled with gold, diamond, timber and oil etc. In the latter part of 2007, during the Kuffour-led-NPP-administration, it was reported that some ministers of state, were begging money from fellow politicians in the West in order to fund their 'parliamentary' elections. Also, our major streets are filled with people who are capable of working yet brand themselves 'beggars' with some not physically challenged but go the extra mile to disfigure themselves simply to beg. On 22 December, 2009 at exactly quarter of ten (10) pm, I visited my girlfriend in Ahwia in Kumasi and on the way tuned in to Luv Fm a local Fm station where the presenter was advising Ghanaians to reduce our begging 'potentials' during the Christmas festivity. To him, the begging sometimes leads to unwanted pregnancies and finally single parenthood – a ranging phenomenon in the country. Some of our beautiful ladies so vulnerable wear their begging tunic and beg almost everyone they know. Like always, there is nothing like free lunch in the state of Denmark. Every penny comes with some form of 'body sacrifice.' I am not surprise the way prostitution is gaining root in this nation. Even some of our ministers patronize these prostitutes as they confess always by only showering few 'shillings for hot sex.' If our president, ministers of state, parliamentarians and District Chief Executives are begging why not the ordinary man who had to scratch his butt, bring it close to his nose to see if it smells nice before earning $1 (dollar) a day. Due to the begging of our immigration officers, policemen and women, and other officers in the passport office we as a nation are bitterly vulnerable to terrorism, and other high profile crimes the world frown on. A state of emergency must be declared here and now by the only 'asumgyuae hene' in the country, Attah-Mills for our country to be immunized from this slow but quick killer disease. Last week Wednesday, i happen to have passed by Kwame Nkrumah Circle and man come see, our sisters and mothers selling their body for a paltry sum of amount. This trend is worrying especially in a situation were their supposed "profession" has not been legalised in the country of "sufferings". I was empathetic towards a beautiful lady who is also in the business of the day. Man! who caught my attention and held me spellbounded to study them comprehensively in order to see how they do their negotiations even in the face of fierce 'cheat' by some of our male customers. One cannot begrudge them for the kind of business they engage in since their reasons are sometimes out of the ordinary. Prostitution has been legalised in some countries and a tax deductible been championed. Ghana can benefit extensively from this line of business if and only we are able to spot this opportunity and bask in on the enormous profit or dividend the business promises.

Ghanaian women in credit card fraud? By The MetroWest Daily News General News | Two women who police said were caught on video last week using a lost credit card to buy two purses worth more than $3,000 turned themselves in on Friday. Naa Amartey, 33, of Westborough, and Rosemary Cooper Badu, 49, of Worcester, both went to the Natick Police Department with their lawyers, police spokesman Lt. Brian Grassey said. Grassey said the two women are the same women seen using a credit card that was either lost or stolen at South Shore Plaza in Braintree last week at a Natick Collection store on Wednesday. The two women are seen buying the two purses, valued at $3,090, and then leaving the store. The women then tried to use the card at another store, but it was declined, Grassey said. Even though the women turned themselves in, Grassey said investigators had received several tips, based on the video, of suspects' identities. "I'm assuming the pressure of the exposure and the number of calls we received was the impetus of them coming to us," said Grassey. "I had a great number of pages of information on these two individuals on my desk. Several people had recognized them based on the video." Amartey, of 147 Milk St., and Badu, of 46 Outlook Drive, were both charged with receiving a lost credit card, credit card fraud of more than $250, identity fraud, forgery and attempting to commit a crime. Both pleaded not guilty at their Natick District Court arraignments yesterday and were released without bail. They are both due back in court on June 25 for a pretrial conference

Samuel Asamoah pleaded guilty to the offence. The Court presided over by Mr Justice Emmanuel Amoh-Yartey heard from Police Chief Inspector Rejoice Samatu that, the convict works with "Fololo", a Kumasi-based distribution company. In December last year, the company was contracted by "Otayamako Agencies Limited", producers of OTAQUA Mineral Water, to supply some of its products to customers, and this was placed directly under the control of Asamoah. She said in May 2009, it was detected that an amount of GH¢5,700.00, representing payments made by customers through Asamoah could not be traced. Police Chief Inspector Samatu said the convict when invited by his employers to a meeting to account for the said amount, refused to attend. Businessman jailed 12 months for visa fraud By GNA Mon, 04 Jan 2010 | Crime/Punishment Kumasi, Jan 4, GNA - A 38-year-old businessman has been sentenced by a Kumasi Circuit Court to 12 months imprisonment in hard labour for duping a trader of GH¢5,500 under the pretext of securing for him a Canadian visa. Eric Nana Sarpong pleaded not guilty and was also ordered to refund the money. Police Chief Inspector Isaac Mensah-Apenteng told the Court presided over by Mr Justice Adjei Frimpong that the Kwadwo Gyasi, a trader, told his sister Afua Sarah about his intention to travel abroad. Through her, he got introduced to Sarpong and the two agreed on the amount to secure for him a Canadian visa and he paid. Police Chief Inspector Mensah-Apenteng said after taking the money, Sarpong went into hiding and was arrested on May 13, 2008. The convict earlier had jumped a court bail but was re-arrested. GNA

This boy is really dumb, and in fact a disgrace to youths around the world. I would never have believed, that I would one day wake up to find out that a Nigerian, has been linked to a terrorist organisation, not to talk of actually being involved in an attempt to commit an horrendous mass murder. What in the world is this? What the heck was the animal thinking? Has is privileged background ignited his madness? What attitudinal problems did he have prior to attempting this unfortunate act etc? How the hell was he able to get through Nigerian airport security without being detected? I suppose there will be an attempt by the relevant security agencies to answer all or some of these questions. However, On the one hand, I want to believe that his mind has been muddled up by some extreme ideas of Islam. On the other hand, maybe it's a case of a dude who is seriously doped on some dangerous substance. The answers will come in the course of time.
This state of event, is certainly bound to affect how some people perceive, and treat Nigerians globally for some time. For one, this would only go on to deepen the negative prejudices of those narrow minded individuals, who are always looking out for any opportunity, to bash the Nigerian nation and its people. Secondly, this would also add to the embarrassment being suffered by millions of Nigerians, who are making brilliant contributions in different works of life in the US, and around the world.
This lunatic must not die from his injuries, because he has to fully face the consequences of his actions. We cannot allow this kind of people to live amongst us, causing mayhem, and truncating our collective peace. I applaud his father for showing courage, by alerting the security agents before the incident, of the tendencies of his son. This is in spite of the biological and emotional connections he may have felt towards his son. All fathers with problematic children should learn an important lesson from this.

Itself cannot stand. It is unfortunate, and sad that Farouk Abudulmutallab decided to drag Nigeria's name in the mud. However, it's equally unbelieveable that this act of shame by one Nigerian can be used by some people to evoke stupid tribal sentiments. The fact is that, Farouk's action has been condemned by well meaning Nigerians across ethnic divide (including his parent).
Within the short time span that i have been visiting this site, i have noticed an unbelieveable level of tribalism reflected in the comments of a good number of forumutes. How on earth is it possible to think of one NIGERIA when people reflect this kind of mindset? The truth is that, we cannot make real progress as people, if we cannot rise above this narrow sectional biases. Why is it so difficult for some Nigerians to love people who are not of their tribe? What i can deduce from all this, is that it would be extremely difficult for some Yorubas, Hausas and Igbos to invite people not of their own ethnic background to their homes for dinner. This is absolutely ridiculous.
With this pattern of reasoning, what hope do we have of future generation of Nigerians, living together, and seeing themselves as one people? We should have a Nigeria where the Igbos relish the idea of coming home after a hard days work, to a good Hause dinner (in some cases prepared by an Hausa woman). In the same vain, we should have a situation where the Hausas would look forward to an Igbo dinner (likewise prepared by an igbo woman). The same applies to the youbas as well. Indeed, how lovely it would be to see more inter-tribal marriages especially among the aforementioned groups (i love the idea of Nkechi Abubarkar, Bola Nwachukwu and Jumai Ayobami). This is what young progressive minded Nigerians will want to see in contemporary Nigeria.
Enough of of this divisive tribal sentiments.

Oscar, I understand your sentiments but you can't blame me for your misfortune when people like you are unwillingly to diagnose their condition in order to find a cure but wish to hold on to an illusion. I've given you, not just my opinion but realistically rife one. By the way, talking about who were first expelled from which country, so ashamed, you don't seem to know your history... Nigerians were expelled from Ghana in 1969 under the "Aliens' Compliance Order" and Nigeria retaliated in 1983. Not trying to justify any of those actions but just to inform you historically on the subject matter. Till this day, Nigerians continue to troop into Ghana in droves. The uncontrollable influx of your people into Ghana has introduced severe menace which now threatens our nation. However, they're being taught that Ghana is not Nigeria, our security personnel are not at slumber. They're tackling the threat as national emergency. Every day, we wake up to find Nigerians being paraded on our national television channels for crimes ranging from armed robbery, abduction, 419 to drug trafficking... just listing a few. With this, could you say I'm prejudiced? HELL NO BROTHER!!! I'm not dissing anyone here, Nigerians are still our siblings but the truth is so overwhelming that neither of us can contest it. Embrace the truth and you're half way to solving your problem but pretend not to have problem by justifying it, takes you to ground zero. You couldn't be serious when you said you'll send me £300 because you don't have it. What job do you do in London if you were not there in search of greener pasture because you couldn't make it in Nigeria, you loser!!!...your own country wasn't fertile enough eh?, you had to migrate to a foreign land where you're so insignificant that you're neither seen nor heard. These overwhelming outbursts of emotions, are they genuinely out of patriotism or one of those tantrums precipitated by hypocrisy? Tell you what, I believe this nationalistic display is nothing but sham. What the world demands is that you place your act in order but instead, there you go talking about money and stuff rather than concentrate on cultural values, integrity, national pride as your motivating factors to drive change... Yes, undeniably, Nigeria had huge resources, massive opportunities, especially in the 70s and continues to have more than any other country in the sub-saharan Africa, but what have you achieved so far even amidst all the natural endowment when the basic catalyst (electricity and water) for growth are grossly lacking. While you continue to blame your government for your misfortune, your government are not the ones indiscriminately, rolling out scam letters through google search engine, abducting innocent people for ransom, etc. I can go on-and-on. Painting lofty pictures about you and your country or holding on to the 70s is only delusional and does not erase the reality of your current status. Invest in your future...wake up and fight the vices. Spend less time and energy inveighing against constructive criticisms; stereotypes and name-calling but develop effective strategies to reverse existing perceptions. Every nation has got down-time but the crucial point is, how resilient are they to make a successful come-back story. We all are yearning and would love to see Nigeria emerge through the valley of the shadow of death and become truly "Giant of Africa" and not just an inference. why is everyone getting tribalistic, a Nigerian is a Nigerian, irrespective of the tribe or religion. nobody shld blame his or her fellow innocent countrymen for this mishap but the culprit. One thing i know is that when the drum is louding the best, its about to burst, we cannot continue like this. It is time for GOD to arise and scatter His enemies for the sakes of the poor average Nigerians who do not even know where the next meal is coming from.
