Ghanaian-actresses

News from Ghana indicates that all is not well with the joint winners of this year’s AMAA Best Actress of the Year. Actresses Lydia Forson, Na Ashorkor Mensah-Doku and Jackie Appiah who emerged joint winners are said to be locked up in a battle over who is the actual winner of the coveted award.

Jackie was said to have rushed to a section of the Ghanaian media, including state-owned print media, hours after the contingents had returned from Nigeria to grant interviews, implying that she single-handedly won the award. She was said to have repeated the claims on their local television.

Reacting to this claim, Lydia Forson and Na Ashorkor Mensah-Doku, co-winners, said they were not perturbed concerning what Jackie said in the country.

Speaking through their management headed by Habiba Nelson, the two actresses said, “We are not bothered about everything that happened”, adding that the truth can never be submerged by any man, and hoped the good within the entertainment fraternity would be the better judges over the sad development.”

Habiba, sounding very modest over what people see as “Jackie’s gaff’, said she would rather let sleeping dogs lie. To her, the most important thing is that AMAA had come out to clear the air.

“The truth always speaks for itself. Three people won. My clients, Miss Forson and Miss Mensah Doku are happy and we are grateful to God for winning. That’s all that matters to us,” she was quoted to have said by an online source.

Another source alleged that Jackie’s action has incurred the wrath of local observers who described her action as not only selfish and individuality, but also misleading.

Following this development, AMAA representatives in Ghana is said to have come out to clear the air, through a prompt press statement.

At the historic AMAA awards night in Yenogoa, Bayelsa State, three weeks ago, three actresses were named as joint winners for their roles in Sparrow Production’s Perfect Picture.

Lydia Forson succumbed to emotions when Nollywood actress, Dakore, handed her the AMAA plaque and the microphone to speak as an evident that it was a joint award.

Its all AMAA's fault, the award show is begining to lose standard coz i dont understand why you you give three actresses Best actress in a leading role. Its called best so you can choose from the good, Peace and her cohorts started this nonsense when they nominated Stephanie and Nse together for reloaded.

It is so absurd and unpardonable....AMAA organisers should have thought of the feud this would bring before awarding actresses for one award....It is never done....Psychologically speaking.

But let's be candid about this, I am in Ghana and if his had created any tension between the actresses, the Ghanaian media would have scooped it up a long time ago....Jackie has made her noise about it and though I ain't gonna justify her selfishness, I would say that she beat the others in terms of media relations....She did not have to wait for the media to chase her, her media liaison, Samira Yakubu, is a very aggressive and good publicist and she was quick enough to sought publicity for her client, That is what I call good media relations....She even called on the media outfit I work for to give her client front page for winning the award but my company's policy does not allow a source to dictate to us what ought to be on our front pages, so we declined...But I gotta admit, the lady is "humble" and professionally "media-friendly"..Two things the other actresses should learn from her.
amaa no no
