Ex-militants from the Niger Delta area of the country caused pandemonium in Gwagwalada area of the Federal Capital city as they blocked the Lokoja-Abuja Highway, a major road which links the capital city with the Southern parts of the country. This resulted in long traffic jam as travellers on the very busy road were unable to proceed beyond Gwagwalada.
The militants, who carried white flags, said they came to inform President Goodluck Jonathan about the failure of those saddled with handling the amnesty programme to pay them their N65, 000 monthly allowances. The militants told journalists that they were tricked into surrendering their arms and abandoned by the government.***

EXACTLY!!!!
giving them free handouts for what?
they should give them jobs or give them scholarships to school or something.
s**t
Mimi mimi | 7/9/2010 10:59:06 AM |
Exactly, they should be rehabilitated into the society. Those who are willingly to go back to school should get scholarships. Others can learn a trade and get monthly allowances to survive and when they are done, they should get loans to start a business. Thos who are fit to work should be employed.
I odnt know what is wrong with our goverment. Are they thinking at all?
John | 7/9/2010 7:41:50 PM |
rehabilitate who? why should they be rehabilitated in the first place? what have they done to get that from the govern? according to your idea to get a scholarship you have to be a militant, then u receive a monthly allowance. these guys are thieves and they deserve nothing but be in jail. a good militant fight for the right of their people. get that into your head.

they can't work and they can, with what qualifications. all they need is free money to live big like every other criminals.
John | 7/9/2010 7:48:45 PM |
just want to correct myself by saying that they can't work and if they can with what qualifications. all what they need is free money just live big like every other criminals.
kemmyvic | 7/9/2010 12:20:14 PM

The federal government has nothing good for this nation let alone this hoodlum that has no vision, only to drive the best car and live a life of a rich guy, but have no single clue on how to maintain the wealth or how to get it.. before anyone make any funny comment, i am also from Niger delta. what we need in this region and the country as whole is a total change in the system of government that will not create room for this i***t who are working for their personal interest. a good patriotic militant will defend the interest of their militancy( the interest of the people) and not trying to enrich themselves the same ways our unpatriotic leaders are doing. when this group are being paid others will arise for the same issue. a system should be created that will not allow this group of morons to have a say in the community were they come from, let alone demonstrating in Abuja.

Is just unfair and s****d for out government. how do you promise without fulfilling it.The best thing to to give them what they want by proper sensitization not paying allowance of N650000 monthly.Looking at it this is not the exact amount mapped out for each of the repented agitator not militant, the government should see provide avenue for those willing to study, trading, if possible recruit them into Force with proper eduction and advice and encouragement. is quiet telling on we the innocent one.
