GHOLLYWOOD NOW CHARGES $5000 FROM NOLLYWOOD PRODUCERS
Story by Alonge Michael

The imbroglio that is currently generating a lot of hits between Nigeria’s Nollywood and Ghollywood of Ghana seems to be spread like wildfires. Remember that www.nigeriafilms.com gave a report on how some authorities in Ghana’s movie industry arrested and requested for work permit from a certain Nigeria film producer, information is now reaching us that, the Attah Mill’s led government has made it as law for any Nigeria movie maker to part with the sum of $5000USD and for actor, $1000USD, an act some stakeholders in Nollywood tagged as insult to the Nollywood and the entire nation.

“I am shocked to know that a certain soap manufacturer in Nigeria paid heavily to have one of the actresses in Ghana as a Face of the soap. We have actress in abundance who can offer the brand the acceptance it needs. Does it not occur to these people that other countries try to retain money in their country and export products but in Nigeria, we export our money and import every other things else.

Now, Ghana is telling Nollywood that it was foolish to have accepted its actors with open arms. They are demanding $5k from any film maker and $1k from individual actor who wants to shoot a movie in Ghana. They forget that what these ignorant Nollywood film makers are doing now in their country will eventually project their tourism sector and economy at the expense of Nigeria.” One of the movie editors, Pascal Chikero said.

The issue is that Nigerians dont appreciate what they have. How can a producer leave NIgeria to mushroom Ghana when we have all it takes?
Ghollywood, thank u for that measure. I think it will bring back sanity to the system.

Nollywood stars, please speak with one voice.

Am tired of reading this rift between Nigeria and Ghana, haba na by force, e no gree no turn to fight now.....make everybody si don for ein papa house and dey answer in father's name. $5000USD is #750.000 Nigeria money. How much will the producer make to part with such some.I see the summary of the whole issue that Ghana doesn't want Nigeria any longer period.Fellow Nigerians', is high time you begin to value and appreciate yourselves, your country,ur actors and actresses. We have beautiful places in Nigeria of the 36states.Let's be contented with what we have.

no matter what i can not say something bad against ghana i know they are in good reletionship with nigeria but what i have to say is that if they ask for $5000 and the producer feel is ok for him let him pay and if he think he is not ok with that come back to nigeria ans shout your movie i think is kind of tax you know that they are paying is good to pay tax but in nigeria we don,t pay tax cause our country is not too good we don,t have reason to pay it
but if you go to ghana because you feel is too good to shout your movie is better you pay the tax because they use money in making their country good or better stay in nigeria and do it normally even in nigeria producers and actors suppose to have their tax paid to the goverment everymonth or go to jail i use to be angry with ghanian but i have think twice about it and i see is nothing bad!

Also Nollywood movies have been shot on location outside of Nigeria (not just Ghana) and no one is complaining.
but with them, it must be a problem.
I'm sure if Nigeria put their own now, those witches will come out of the woods to start barking and making noise about jealousy.

Igboi***t, i think your insanity is without any cure. So you still use your dirty s***king garbage mouth to insult right? Cant you ever make a decent comment without insulting anyone. I think you were not trained properly or you were brought up in a broken home with a w***e for a mother and an alcoholic, abusive useless father.

All these, i am sure has affected you so much that you now talk from you asshole and s**t from your mouth. You talk as if you are brainless. So it has now become a crime for a country to impose tax on whichever sector want.
Do you think Ghana is run by i***ts and mannerless people who instead of sitting down to discuss important issues, turn themselves to WWE champions.

This issue is very simple, there is no Ghana must go in this case, you either take it or leave it, if you want to act in Ghana you need to abide by the current laws. If Nigeria wants to impose their own laws, what is stopping them.

There should be no insults here, Ghana is doing whats best for the country, Nigeria can do the same if not then you people especially you IgboQueen should just SHUT UP. Period!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with charging or imposing taxes. It is for the betterment of our "sweet" country. This law is not applied to Nigerians only but to all foreigners.
Imposing of taxes have played a significant role in the development of countries like The Netherlands, England and the U.S.A.
If Nigeria want they can impose taxes on us too. All for the betterment of Naija.
Thank you.

U see what hurts me is that immediately u see the story here u dont try to find the truth behind the story & the illiterate Nigerians like igboqueen etc & some f*****h Ghanaians like Yaw, start commenting & talking r*****h. The fact of the matter is that, this is a strategy we ve employed to throw Ghanaians out from Nollywood. Which has come out to say that he has been taxed such an amount in Ghana? I thought u could reason not to fight the whole Ghana nation but their actors who think they can take over Nollywood....i mean where else have u heard this story in this country apart from this site? Nigeria is for us & no one can claime it ownership except us. I know we ve contributed much to the growth of African movies not only Ghana so Nigerians,we must know how to talk politely b'cos what i detected is that as 'false info' is published here to try to get u visit this site & kill yourselves, Ghanaians are asleep or better still doing good business. My advise to u all is that before anyone will make any comment here,he/she must find out if the info here is true by getting it from other sources b'cos website running is also a business & therefore will write something u'll comment. But some of u dont comment decently by in the whole nation. I & two nollywood actress recently featured in a ghollywood movie & no paid any task so what is your problem fight here?

Nollywood and Ghollywood should try to resolve there differences amicably without insulting each other.I think there is something more behind this rift other than the issue of imposition of tax. This is not rift between the good people of Ghana or Nigeria,so dont see it as a war.Little dialogue between the two entities involved can resolve the whole issue. We are all Africans, don't let us fight and abuse one another because of all these ephemeral things.French security forces have been 'fighting' poor Africans in thier country France lately. This is what Ghana and Nigeria and other African countries should stand against, not their entertainment indusriies or actors or actresses. If Ghana and Nigeria are now fighting each other over this flimsy issues on thier own soil, then French authorities have all rights to 'fight' we,Black people,on thier soil in France.Ghana and Nigeria have both come a long way as neighbours and friends. So neither Nollywood nor Ghollywood[ nor thier Governments] should be allowed to derail the peace and tranquility that have existed between them.
