The little girl wins big...

After several weeks of hard work; the training and grooming from the faculty team, harsh criticisms from the judges and the in-house quarrels amongst the housemates, a winner has finally emerged in the third season of Project Fame West Africa. Amid tension, fear, hopes and high expectations Chidinma was tonight pronounced the winner of Project Fame West Africa season 3.

The last six contestants – Kesse, Ochuko, Eyo, Tolu, Yetunde and Chidinma lined up after their performances for the night, waiting for the breaking news. The comperes, Benjamin and Adora delayed the announcement as usual, raising the fright even more. Their eyebrows were blinking per second. They breathed in and out almost every minute – the tension is heightened.

The studio was quiet for few minutes as the validated voting result, enclosed in an envelope was handed over to the hosts. Even the Joke Silva led faculty crew looked tensed. Eventually, Chidinma Ekile who drastically improved in the cause of the show was pronounced the 2010 Project Fame star as she was presented the cheque of N2.5m and keys to a brand new Toyota RAV4. She’s also entitled to a recording contract.

It’s the first time a lady is winning the contest. And Chidinma’s win makes it the third time a Nigerian is coming tops.

Gifted Ghanaian singer Kesse Frimpong was named 1st runner up winning- N1.5m and a Toyota Corolla while Eyo Eminue made the 2nd runner up position and went home with N1m and a Toyota Yaris.

Fan-favourite Yetunde (a.k.a. Omo Ibadan) was named third runner-up.

The other two contestants, Tolu Adeshina and Ochuko Ogbu-Sifo didn’t completely lose out of the competition as the top six contestants are expected to release a group song, produced by one of Nigeria’s leading producers; a well as a video.

Ultima boss Femi Ayeni tells us the Academy is committed to pushing and supporting all six finalists…

Iyanya was the winner of the debut edition MTN Project Fame (season 1) in 2008. Shortly after his historic win he released a single and eventually an album which ushered him into the hall of fame of Nigerian musicians.

Mike Anyasodo emerged the second winner of season 2 in 2009. With his debut album in the pipeline, he has released several singles including the recent ‘Fine Fine Lady’ which is receiving massive airplay on TV and Radio stations in the country.

Now it’s Chidinma’s turn to rock stardom, with her already acquired platform. Hopefully she would be the next big thing happening to the Nigerian music industry in a matter of months….

You might as well rename the show Project Fame NIGERIA. The reason first being the composition of the faculty. All tutors are Nigerians. The judging panel are made of 4 Nigerians and 1 Ghanaian. There is no representation from any other West African country. How do the organisers explain this? Finally, in my opinion, i believe that if the organisers want the show to attract a wider audience, they shd change some öf these weakness. Afterall, Nigeria is not the epicenter of singing talents. Am sorry if this is offensive to my fellow Naijarians.

chidinma should have been 2nd or 3rd. she only started picking later in the game. kesse has been very consistent but they never gave it to him, but i guess they were afraid to give it to a ghanaian. And what of ochuku?? this is bull s**t

If all was to be judged the way we all expected, Chidinma would have come after another person.
However, she did her best and it paid.
I believe the judges used the fact that she was not deterred of her silly performance from the start.
She was good, I must confess and pretty too.
Congrats my baby.

leave judges out of this...the winners were selected based on votes casted by the viewers and fans.

the difference is that while chidimma fans were voting with their hard earned credit, the fans of tolu et al were voting with their mouth. Learn from this.

congrates again chidimma.

Really project fame abeg nw, dis is supposed to be a musical talent show, not a U re cute beauty show. D moment people lik rhoda and omobola left, i gave up on d show, i mean d real talents were evicted and we were left wit screamers and show pple. Dnt knw how Eyo cld hav won over d likes of Tolu & Ochuko, it beats me o. For starters d voting style sucks, i thnk dy shld go back to d seasn one style where d judges pick 3 contestants dat had d poorest performances dat day, then viewers re asked to vote, d persn wit d least votes of d three shld nw be evicted. If dis voting system cntinues den a persn dat sounds lik a frog mght end up winning jst cos he or she is good looking or funny. Secondly judges shld be reviewed, dnt rlly knw why kwame is a judge, does ownin a music channel and being a one time radio personality qualify him as one, and nomoreloss had quite d sharp mouth, all dat critism comin frm a guy who sang 'Ololufe dnt U knw i care' and did a remix of d already popular Victor Olaiya's 'IYAWO ASIKO' oh pls giv me a break. Music pple lik cobhams, asha, dare and sme othrs frm all over west africa shld be cnsidered. D faculty and judges gave us enuf drama. Frm d tears (oh crap) to d 1001 standin ovations. All dy did was influence d viewers decision. In all let d best TALENT win nt the mst liked.

It shows this was never going to be a true competition when they introduced this new voting system where even the best person for a week (like Ochuko) will go on probation while the likes of Eyo who was first singing like a frog never tasted probation. It also meant their performance on the night of probation does not matter as even the bast for the (Saturday) night may be evicted. How on earth can Eyo come third ahead of the likes of Ochuko and Tolu (who had almost been EXCELLENT all through)? Chidinma was good BUT ABSOLUTELY NOT AS GOOD AS Ochuko, Kesse and Tolu. It was clearly stage managed!

Exactly my point Yinka. Bottom line, voting system shld be reviewed and judges who hav a music background shld cme on board. Kwame shld giv way. All d male judges were jst lusting aftr Chidinma, lickn thr lips and all.

imagine what the judges did

this is total nonsense, tell me how on earth eyo got that prize? with such a frogy voice and also winning over the likes of tolu, ochuko and omo ibadan. this is really an unfair judgement, and now little chidimma thinks she won. anyhow, notin the happen as 2face de talk.tolu dont give up because i think you are really the star i wanted to see, christian, neve mind coz you are also a great singer, ochoko no mind them na bad belle the worry them all, yetunde omo you bam throway. kesse congratulations. chidimma go return all those gifts back to the rightful winner!
