It all depends on how well orngaized you have everything. If you have a good assortment of music, have it all orngaized properly on your iPod, then it's basically a no-brainer.We're not hiring a DJ for our wedding next month. I just could not comprehend paying $800 or more for a DJ for 4 or 5 hours. I'm renting all the same equipment for an entire week for only $100. We have hundreds of songs on our iPod to completely fill up the day. Everything from oldies, to rock and country to hip hop. Slow songs, upbeat songs, and everything in between (that's danceable). We'll probably use a laptop as well, to insure that the iPod batteries don't die halfway through the day. We also want an MC for our wedding which is where my dear ol' dad comes in. He's been an MC at many weddings, just because it comes naturally to him! He's MCing for us which is far better than having a DJ do this. DJ's aren't usually the MC's at weddings anyhow. MC is the Master of Ceremonies usually someone who knows the bride and groom on a more personal level.Anyhoo if you're wanting certain songs played throughout the day, you're going to want to get some help from a friend or family member to man the equipment during these times. A cousin of mine is going to be supervising our music during the ceremony when we need different songs played at different times. Super easy job!For the rest of the night, you can basically just hit shuffle'. OR, if you want to be super orngaized go through all your music, and make a list. Organize the music on the iPod in the exact order you want it played during the reception. This way, you can ensure there's equal balance between fast and slow songs, good transition from one song to the next. It's really quite easy to provide your own music and, no annoying DJ treating your wedding as a club!
