Budding Nollywood actress, Jumoke Aderounmu has said that her stature could be a major challenge in rising to the peak of her career.

She disclosed that she had always had the problem of getting roles because producers see her stature as a misfit to the character she wants to portray despite her mastery of the role.

Aderounmu who is miniature in stature said that every other thing she passes through is not a challenge, that her major concern was her stature. She narrated how she started her acting career during a strike period when she was still in school.

“During the strike period, I visited Lagos and my visit coincided with an audition by Tunde Kelani. Because I was much smaller than I am presently, he asked me to go back to school when it reached my turn to be auditioned’

She is very happy today because she seems to be getting past that challenge as she gets more roles now.

In her words, ‘I would audition and even take the final reading only to be told that I don’t look the part. It is only recently that my stature has been helping me to secure roles.

Also recall that the well celebrated Nigerian Actress, Mercy Johnson said that her biggest challenge then was her color, producers rejected her because she was very dark and they preferred light skinned characters. But today she is one of the best celebrated actresses in Nigeria.
