Yesterday,Sunday May 7, 2017, Nigerian music legend Femi Kuti has set a new world record at the New Afrikan Shrine.The AfroBeat singer broke the world record for the longest single note on a saxophone note with a stunning 46minutes and 38seconds.

Previously, the record was set at 45minutes and 37seconds by Kenny G in 1977

This record breaking performance By Kuti was witnessed by a very large audience which included Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, the deputy high commissioners of Netherlands and the United Kingdom.Born in London and raised in Lagos Femi Kuti is the eldest son of afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti and a grandchild of Funmilayo Ransome Kuti.

His musical started when he began playing in his father’s band and in 1986, Femi Kuti started his own band,Positive Force, and began establishing himself and became independent of his father’s massive legacy.

For four years,he was absent from the Music scene due to personal setbacks, he reappeared in 2008 with Day by Day and Africa for Africa in 2010 and for this he received two Grammy Award nominations.In 2012,he was both inducted into the Headies Hall of Fame.Femi Kuti was a judge on Nigeria’s huge TV show Nigerian Idol Season 3.

It is worthy to Note that this Milestone is yet another achievement for the AfroBeat legend.
