The late reggae maestro, Ras Kimono, will be given a befitting burial two months after his death.
This was disclosed by the chairman of the burial planning committee, Mr Theophilus Ehizibue, adding that the decision was reached by his family, friends and close associates.
Stating that the late icon would have marked 35 years on stage this year, Mr Ehizibue added that the family has decided that there will be an annual event to celebrate him.
“Having played for 35 years on stage which co-incidentally is this year, the family and friends have decided that there will be an annual event to mark his remembrance, his personality, his kind of music and what he represents” Ehizibue said.
Ras Kimono broke into stardom following his debut album,’Under Pressure’ in the late ’80s, with the smash hit Rum Bar Stylee.
The delta state-born star died in an Ikoyi hospital on June 10, after he reportedly slumped the day before.
His surprise death, at 60, triggered an outpouring of tributes and condolences from fans and industry players in the country and beyond.
