2008 Beijing Olympic Games bronze medalist and Africa’s 200 meters record-holder, Blessing Okagbare is very bitter and has cried out over criticisms from her fans…

“I don’t answer questions about expectations. I have expectations but people have expectations of me, but I am sorry I am not running for anyone.”

“This is my career and I come first, regardless of what anybody thinks. No one knows how you train, yet they want you to fulfill their own expectations of you.”

For those who might not know, Blessing Okagbare is a track and field athlete who specializes in long jumping and short sprints. She is an Olympic and World Championships medalist in the long jump and a world medalist in the 200 meters. She also holds the Women’s 100 meters Commonwealth Games record for the fastest time at 10.85 seconds.

She is the current African record holder in the 200m with her run of 22.04 seconds in 2018. She was the African 100m and long jump champion in 2010. She has also won medals at the All-Africa Games, IAAF Continental Cup, and World Relays.

Okagbare was born in October 9, 1988 in Sapele, Delta State.
