Super Eagles coach, Augustine Eguavoen has stepped down from his role following the Nigerian team’s inability to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The Nigerian national team failed to make the world football’s greatest showpiece after a 1-1 draw against the Black Stars of Ghana in Abuja on Tuesday, which meant that the Ghanaian team team qualified on away goal rule.

The failure has continued to draw the ire of Nigerian football fans with many already calling for Eguavoen’s sack, and for the resignation of the country’s football officials.

The source said Eguavoen has handed over his resignation letter to NFF.

Eguavoen announced his decision step down on Thursday.

After the match, there has been increased call for the President of NFF Amaju Pinnick to resign, but he has remained adamant.
