Veteran film producer, Kunle Afolayan has decried the dearth of quality film making in the movie industry.

He attributed the poor state of the industry to lack of unity among film makers as he pleads with all and sundry involved in film making to come together and have a formidable unity that will help the industry to thrive.

He said this at the 20th anniversary celebration of the death of his father and legendary film maker, Adeyemi Afolayan.

”Now we have Nollywood, we have Yoruba, we have this, we have that, but please lets come together. If the elders among us are disunited like this, how do you expect us the younger ones to behave,” he said in Yoruba.

It will be noted that the Yoruba film-making industry has split into several factions including Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP), National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP) and Theatre and Motion Picture Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) all claiming to represent the interest of Yoruba creatives.

I assume Kunle learnt his craft from his father. He is very good in what he does and excellence seems to be his watch word because there are traces of excellence in all his works. Hope he trains younger generation who will take over when he is gone
