After two days deliberations by Rivers State indigenes- elders, women and youth held at Pima Suites and Sheraton hotel on Monday, October 17 and Wednesday, October 19 at Port Harcourt and Abuja respectively, Elder Israel  H.  Amadi, the Ag. Chairman of Summit has spoken about what they have resolved to do.

The group is calling on the Federal Government and its agencies to recover all looted funds such as the Two Million Dollars in custody of the judge in Port Harcourt and use same for the benefit of the people of the State.   The group has also resolved to track these funds.

According to Israel, “Summit resolves and urges the Nigerian public and Rivers people to dismiss  the allegation of bribery leveled by Justice Okro against  Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi based on the following:  Mr.  Amaechi is not the target or focus of investigation of corrupt practices by the DSS,  Justice Okoro is. In addition, if Okoro is concerned about his incorruptibility as he sounds,  he should have availed himself of the provisions of statute and even common law duty to report all acts including attempted bribery expeditiously to law enforcement officers.

Justice Okoro waited until he was caught to raise this issue and lunch a pull-him-down tirade which is not a valid defense in law and to the sleuth of allegations against his person by DSS. SUMMIT    urges Amaechi to examine the possibility of embarking on a suit on defamation of character against Justice Okoro.”
