It was a weekend of music and fun last Friday as some of the best and biggest of Nigerian music moved up North and converged on Yola, capital of Adamawa State in continuation of Star Trek, an annual musical tour sponsored by Star lager, a premium brand of Nigerian Breweries Plc.

However, the fun did not stop in Yola. On Saturday, it moved to the ancient city of Kaduna and berthed at the NAF Club where Jukebox, winners of this year’s Star Quest reality TV show kicked off the show proper after some home based artistes had performed. And just as they left the crowd screaming for more during their first public performance at Samkoll Garden, Ikotun, Lagos, Jukebox attracted screams and catcalls as they sang their winning song, Omalichanwa.

But then the crowd that thronged the Jimeta Township Stadium in Yola would not forget in a hurry the brilliant performances of Djinee, Banky W, KC Presh and Timaya who respectively mounted the stage after Jukebox.

The duo of KC Presh would be singled out for lifting the show and thoroughly thrilling the audience of mostly youth and the young at heart. In the middle of their performance, the duo organized a mini dancing competition and rewarded best dancers with personal items like wrist watch, jacket and money.
Back in Kaduna, immediately after Jukebox came the Sokori Bobo exponent, Jewels, who after the being heralded on stage by compere Gbenga Adeyinka, went ahead to prove the stuff they’re made of.

The duo of Bracket later came on stage and practically left the crowd breathless after singing some songs from their hit album, Yori Yori By the time MI came on stage to sing his popular track, Mr. Incredible it was all screams. Just as the crowd thought that was the best show to come for the night, Egberi Papa of Bayelsa, Timaya showed up. The musician sang his heart out to the crowd that had earlier defied the rain to watch the show. And as a compensation for their steadfastness, Timaya performed endlessly and did not leave the stage until 5.30 in the morning.

The high point of the shows in Yola and Kaduna was the constant remembrance of the departed rap master “Dagrin” by virtually all the artistes. The 10-city concert tour is expected to be rounded off in Awka and Kwale this weekend.
