The family of the late veteran actor, Pa Moses Olaiya Adejumo aka Baba Sala, has picked December 7, 2018 date for his burial. Baba Sala died on Sunday 7, October, 2018, in his hometown Ilesa, at the age of 82.

The burial program as expected of Baba Sala’s status as a comedian of note and his contributions to the society and the industry will be an elaborate one. He is a Member of the Order of the Niger (MON). Different groups and associations, as well as many important personalities, are going to be involved in the burial ceremony. The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP), The National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP) and religious group are all going to play one role or the other.

The whole week burial ceremony, according to Baba Salak’s first child Pastor Dele Adejumo, will kick-off in Lagos on Monday 3 December 2018, at the National Stadium. The train will move to Ibadan Cultural Centre on Tuesday 4 December. There will be another program at Osogbo on Wednesday 5 December. Later in the evening of Wednesday, there is going to be Service of Songs at the Sacred C&S Church, Idasa Number 1, Ilesa, Baba’s Church. On Thursday 6 December 2018, there will be lying in state and Christian Wake at Baba Sala’s residence, Abiola Avenue, Grace Olabisi Street, off Ijebu-Jesha Road, Ilesa. Artistes Nite will also take place that same Thursday. The final burial comes up the following day Friday 7 December 2018, with a Funeral Service at the Sacred C&S Church, Idasa Number 1, Ilesa. Reception follows at Zenababs Half Moon Hotel and Resort, Prince Oladele Olashore Way, Aiyegunle, Ilesa.

Pa Moses Olaiya Adejumo will forever remembered for his immense contributions to the development of Nigeria’s film industry. He was born May 18 1936 in Ilesa. Baba Sala, a comedian, dramatist and actor started his career in the showbiz industry as a Highlife musician, leading a popular group known as the Federal Rhythm Dandies in 1964. The Juju King, Sunny Adé trained under him where he was playing as a lead guitarist. Part of his many works include ‘Orun Mooru’ (1982), ‘Aare Agbaye’ (1983), ‘Mosebolatan’ (1985), ‘Tokunbo (1985, TV), ‘Obee Gbona’ (1989), ‘Diamond’ (1990 Home video), ‘Agba Man’ (1992, Home Video), ‘Return Match’ (1993,home video) and ‘Ana Gomina’ (1996, home video).
