Following the murder of Mrs Eunice Elisha of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Abuja, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter, has implored Christians to remain calm and allow the peace of God that passes all understanding fill their hearts.

Rev. Dr. Israel Akanji, FCT CAN Chairman  made a statement in which he urged the people especially Christians not to take any drastic action as he assured them that the security agencies are working towards making sure that such incident does not happen again.

He said, “Christians should also know that in all circumstances, the Bible enjoins us to keep loving our neighbors as ourselves and doing well to all.”

He described the killing of Mrs Elisha as worrisome and a way of impeding the right of speech and worship which is against the constitution supports.

“This action is an evil encroachment on the peace which has existed in the FCT. We believe that this woman went out on her normal morning preaching as the peaceful environment had always allowed,” he said.

He urges the government to intervene in the situation by saying clearly to all that the act is totally unacceptable.
