Singer, 2face Idibia, turned down nothing less than N140 million worth of bookings from political parties and politicians who were desperate for him to make campaign jingles and headline concerts for them, his manager, Efe Omoregbe, has said.

He made the claim in reaction to the backlash his artist suffered when Nigerians concluded that government officials forced him to pull out of the ‘I Stand With Nigeria’ protest in February.

It will be recalled that, 2face released a video post on the eve of the planned protest, announcing that the protest had been ‘cancelled’ because of ‘external forces that threatened to hijack it’.

Omorogbe has denied that 2face was arm twisted to back out of the protest. He said, “2Baba turned down over N140m worth of booking requests from partisan political interests in the lead up to the 2015 general elections to protect the credibility of the Vote Not Fight: Election No Be War campaign.
