Issakaba Returns To Screen, Sam Dede, Chinwetalu Agu Take Lead Roles

After decades of gracing the Nigerian screen, a movie, Issakaba, is set to return, with veteran actors Sam Dede, and Chinwetalu Agu, taking lead roles.

The movie was produced in 2021 by the late filmmaker, Chukwuka Emelionwu; and Moses of Mosco production.

It is, however, being remade by a popular filmmaker, Lancelot Imasuen.

In a statement sent to newsmen, Imasuen, who is called ‘the guvnor’ by his admirers, stated that the movie will feature actors who appeared in the initial movies as well as others, such as Dede and Agwu, who would be joined by Chidi Mokeme, Regina Daniels, Nosa Rex, Iyabo Ojo, Sanni Danga, and Alex Osifo.

The movie will also feature Phyna, Mark Angel, Francis Onwochei, Charles Okafor, and Ben Olaye, among others.

Speaking on why he is remaking the movie, Lancelot said, “The reboot became necessary due to popular demand by fans on social media platforms, such as X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. The calls for the remake of the movie have reached a frenzy level. Even notable entertainers, such as Davido, have continued using the word, ‘Issakaba’, in their contents.

The first part of the movie was an action-packed thriller that chronicled the activities of a community vigilante group called ‘Bakassi Boys’, who were fighting against armed robbery, murder and other crimes. It also told the story of the armed gangs that were terrorising shoemakers in Aba, Abia State, back then, as well as the resolve of the shoemakers to fight back using ‘traditional’ means of policing, and they got the needed results. ‘Issakaba’ stands for truth, justice and fairness.
