A well respected Kannywood movie producer, Falalu Dorayi has expressed his concern over the recent conferment of chieftaincy title of ‘Sarkin waka’ on Korede Bello.

Expressing his view on the singer’s achievement, Dorayi said the chieftancy title on the Southern singer is a way of disrespecting the Northern youths.

Dorayi, maintains that the Kano state emirate council would have done better by conferring the title on a Northerner, as he claims there are many indigenous Hausa singers in Kano who deserve the title instead.

He, however condemns the act of honouring the Mega Super Star, as claimed the action of the council demoralised the northern youths.

Dorayi said, “No matter how bad indigenous Hausa singers are, it is not fair to cross over to Lagos to pick Sarkin wakan Kano.”

Stressing further, “It is not surprising, because northern elites have been like that, they look for us only when they are in need afterwards they short change us for Lagos chaps.

“All sleepless nights our musicians have been having to bring our traditional leaders and northern politicians to the limelight all they get in return was to have the title shipped to Lagos.”

In a telephone interview with DailyTrust, Dorayi, however endorsed Nazir Ahmad over Bello.

According to the movie producer, Ahmad has never ceased from praising the current emir of Kano, Mohammad Sanusi II in his songs and thus deserved the title.

“In fact, before Sanusi became the emir of Kano, Nazir had envisaged and fore told in his songs of Sanusi becoming Sarkin Kano and it came to pass. I am of the opinion that if justice should be done none deserves this title but Nazir Ahmad.” He added.

Meanwhile, the said chieftaincy title is currently not known to the public as it hasn’t been made official.
