A Nigerian billionaire businessman, Mr Kessington Adebutu, otherwise known as Baba Ijebu, is bereaved because of the death of one of his wives, Mrs Rosemary Adebutu.

Mrs Adebutu was said to have died on Saturday after showing signs of malaria and was taken to the hospital for treatment, where she was confirmed dead.

According to Street Journal, the wife of the Premier Lotto Chairman breathed her last on Saturday morning from coronavirus complications.

It was reported that before complaining of fever, she was hale and hearty. However, when she was reportedly monitored and things were not looking to get better, she was taken to the popular St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos for proper medical attention but the doctor declared that she was “brought in dead.”

The news has devastated the family, especially Mr Adebutu, who is said to be finding it difficult to believe that his heartthrob is gone forever.

It has been more painful to the octogenarian because Mrs Rosemary Adebutu is the second wife to die in less than four years. The first was Mrs Olaide Abimbola Adebutu, who died in 2017.

Mrs Rosemary Adebutu, according to reports, is the mother of Temitope Adebutu, who married one of the sons of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Jonwo, at an elaborate wedding ceremony in 2017. The marriage packed up barely a year after it was consummated.

The crash in the marriage has not affected the friendship between the lotto businessman and the Ota farmer, Mr Obasanjo.

Mr Adebutu, a native of Iperu Remo, Ogun State, was born in 1935. He attended The Wesley Primary School, Iperu Remo and Ijero Baptist School, Apapa Road, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, where he completed his primary education in 1950, according to his profile on his website.

He is a very successful businessman, who has received several awards, including a national honour from the federal government of Nigeria as the Commander of the Niger (CON).
