There have reportedly been problems arising from the donation made to the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) by oil magnate and head of Capital Oil, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah some weeks ago. The oil mogul had reportedly made a donation of 20,000 US Dollars through his Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation to the guild, and had sponsored some members to the United States, where they met with Hollywood’s Screen Actors’ Guild (SAG). With reports making news that there is discountenance in the guild over the business tycoon’s generosity, the guild has finally made its stands known by denying any problem in the guild, and also put the record straight on the said largesse of the Capital Oil chief and the US trip by some of its members. Speaking through its National Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Yakubu, the Guild said the money was never donated to AGN but was given to those who made the trip to the United States and that the money was also part of their Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) and their flight tickets. In his words, “there is no rumble in the guild, I don’t know where they got the story from, the 10 people that went have come back and there is no problem at all. The man (Ifeanyi Ubah) bought tickets for those that went for the trip and catered for them. It was a sponsored trip by him” Speaking on the allegation that the 20,000 US Dollars was money donated to the guild by Ifeanyi Ubah, he said, “the money was not meant for AGN, but for those who made the trip to the US, that is where they got it all wrong. That was why the man refused to give such money to the guild because of these kinds of wahala.” He further said that, “Each person had a BTA, and they were all given an equal BTA. Those that did not travel would not have part of the money just as I did not because I did not make the trip. Some mischievous people wanted to get part of the money that was not meant for them, when they could not make the trip.” Some members had traveled to the United States some weeks ago, where they partnered with Hollywood in collaborating with each other in the area of filming and marketing.
