The police have come under intense attack in the killing of a lecturer at the University of Benin, Stella Okotie, by a commercial driver, Anu Adisa.

Late Okotie, a lecturer in the faculty of education, ran a water supply business by the side.

On the fateful day, she was said to be involved in her side hustle alongside her sales boy simply identified as Amos in the neighbourhood of the institution at Benin-Lagos Expressway when Adisa vehicle rammed into them.

The commercial driver lost control of the vehicle in a tug of war that ensued between him and a cop after he refused to part with a N100 naira bribe, according to the account of an eyewitness, who captured the accident scene on video and posted it online.

The late lecturer’s sales boy was said to have survived with injuries and currently hospitalised.
