Late Super Eagles player, Rashidi Yekini, may have been long gone and memories forgotten but his name will never be deleted from the sand of history as he will always be remembered for his great skills on soccer pitch.

Some months back, the Nigeria Football Federation paid tribute to the late Super Eagles great, who died on May, 2, 2012, at the age of 48 after a longtime illness.

Yekini scored 37 goals as a Nigerian international, and represented the nation in five major tournaments, including two World Cups where he scored the country’s first-ever goal in the competition.

Recently, the player was remembered in Portugal, as his picture was put in a frame and taken round the stadium.

The FCT recently honoured him by naming a street after him for his feat as the first Nigerian to score at a FIFA World Cup.
