Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the winner of 2016 Ballon D’or award winner.
The Portuguese star had a clear chance over his closest rival, Lionel Messi and was even already tipped the award after a successful year winning the Champions League and Euro Nations trophy with Real Madrid and Portugal respectively.
Messi on the other hand, has not had the best of times this year failing to reach the Champions League final with Barcelona and even lost the final of the Copa Americana to Chile in the summer.
