The police in Lagos State have arrested four people including an estranged boy friend of a 23-year-old girl, who was bathed with liquid suspected to be acid.

The main suspect, reportedly planned with the other arrested suspect to pour acid on his former girlfriend for ditching him.

The suspects are currently being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti in Yaba area of the state.

The 23-year-old victim has been admitted at the Intensive Care Unit of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), where she is receiving treatment.

The victim said that the accident occurred on the June 3, 2015 in Surulere, after she had been deceived with a bogey catering contract.

The victim narrated that, “In the afternoon of that fateful day, I was at work when a private number called me at about 4pm and it was a lady who spoke, telling me that she wanted me to come and bake cake for her.”

She continued that, “She said she would call back at about evening time and we would see. So, when I got home, at about 8.30pm, she called again and said I should come to Surulere, and she would be in a red car.”

The victim further narrated that “I believed her and left home to see the lady. I was wearing a red blouse too. When I got to the spot, I did not see any red car and she was not calling back.”

She claimed that “Suddenly, I noticed someone drew my hair from behind and suddenly poured acid on my face down to my waist.”

Rosemary also added that because of the effects of the substance, I was crying rolling on the ground, some passersby who saw me when I crying thought I had gone mad. Some of them were able to come to my aid.

The victim and Paul were said to be lovers until last year when Rosemary reportedly opted out of the relationship for a reason best known to her.

She said: “I did not know his plans. I left him because he did not have a stable job and he was not a straight forward man. Instead of me to remain with him and for him to keep deceiving me I decided to move on with my life.”

The Lagos spokesperson also added that the suspects had been transferred to the State CID for onward investigation
