Few days ago, top media personality, Pastor Dimgba Igwe, who was killed by a hit and run driver about a month ago, brought together host of dignitaries from across the country, including family, friends and other business associates as they all converged to sing his soul to eternal glory.

It was the day set aside for a Service of Songs by his church, Evangel Pentecostal Church for the vice chairman of The Sun Publishing Limited and Associate Publisher of Entertainment Express Newspapers.

At the service, soul-lifting songs, which brought many participants to tears, rented the air as the voices of members of the choir and congregation reverberated in the four corners of the church’s auditorium. There were also showers of tributes on the departed media guru.

Participants at the Service of Songs were thrilled by musical rendition by Nigerian flutist and music maestro, Dr. Tee Mac Omatshola-Iseli.

The artiste, known to many as ‘Tee Mac’, sent emotions running wild with his heart-touching rendition of the popular hymn, ‘Amazing Grace’. He struck a perfect cord when his effort forced tears from eyes of many in the congregation. The tributes poured like torrents of rain.

Perhaps, the most touching tribute of the night was given by his bosom friend and colleague, Mike Awonyinfa, who is the Publisher of Entertainment Express Newspapers.

Speaking with Nigeriafilms.com, Mr. Awoyinfa, said. “I know my friend is in heaven and I must work very hard to meet him there; by hook or by crook. But I pray it won’t be by crook but by hook. He has shown me the way to heaven, and I must try to follow him in every way I can, so that I can be reunited with my friend.

“I have also made promise to God that I will always be there for his family. I’ll make sure they don’t feel their father’s absence financially. I pray God will help me to fulfil these promises. My dear friend, sleep well and rest in peace.”

Veteran Nollywood actor, Charles Okafor also poured in his tributes too and good parting words for the fallen ‘Iroko’ of tabloid journalism.

“I’m here because I have known Dimgba to be a very good believing and practicing Christian. He is a true man of God. You can see how top dignitaries gathered here today to pour out tributes to him. He was a teachers’ teacher and very theological. I salute him dearly. I am also one of the multitudes that he touched their lives before his untimely death.”
