Jose Mourinho has been confirmed as the new manager of Manchester United. This was made known by Ed Woodard, the Manchester United vice-chairman as he described the new manager as simply the best manager in the game today.

Mourinho will replace Loius van Gaal who was dismissed on Monday after his victory in the FA Cup.

In his words,“He has won trophies and inspired players in countries across Europe and, of course, he knows the Premier League very well, having won three titles here,” he said.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome him to Manchester United. His track record of success is ideal to take the Club forward.”

Responding to his new position he said, “To become Manchester United manager is a special honour in the game. It is a club known and admired throughout the world.

“There is a mystique and a romance about it which no other club can match.

He added that there has been a very deep connection between him and Old Trafford which reminds him of precious memories in his career especially with the United fans.

The 53-year-old Portuguese has signed a three-year deal worth of £36million on Thursday .
