Habiba Abubakar has been honoured by the United Nations (UN) as its Peace and Charity ambassador. This honour was bestowed on her over the weekend to commemorate this year’s International Day of Peace.
The Abuja based philanthropist has now joined Angelina Jolie and others and will now have access to an international UN ID, customized number plate, attend seminars and conferences both in Nigeria and outside, award of a certificate among other benefits from the United Nation.
According to her, people should not set up NGOs with the aim of soliciting funds from members of the public to run the foundations. Habiba’ foundation caters for the elderly and the poor and she reportedly runs it with her money.
