Drums will be rolled out on October 1, 2010 at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Race Course in Lagos for a 600-minute musical charity concert aimed at aiding the families of late entertainers as well as celebrating Nigeria’s Golden Jubilee Independence celebration.

Tagged ‘600-Minute Musical Splash,’ the event, which is organized by Delight Productions is expected to mark the country’s 50th independence anniversary celebration as well as supporting the families of Nigeria’s late entertainment stars.

The late entertainers to be remembered at the event expected to run from 8:00pm through 6:00am include Yinka Craig, J.T Tom West, Hubert Ogunde, Steve Rhodes, Sis Clara Olusola, Danjumah Mohammed, Matt Dazie, Nwabuwa Leosmiles, Ken Egbuna, Sammy Needle, Sunny Okosun, Jenifer Okere, Ebere Onwu, Bobby Benson, Stephen osadebe, John Chukwu, Roy Chicago, Bisi Ogunde, Lanre Basics, Nico Ngbaga and Smart Williams.

Others are Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Oliver De Coque, Monsurat Obadina, Remi Abiola, Alosious Atuegbu, Toun Oni, DaGrin, Mike Opkala, Patrick Okala, Akababa Waidi, Sam Okwaraji, Dick Tiger, I.K Dairo, Wale Abiodun, Professor Peller, Pamela Oliseh, Darlignton Oha, Isaac Umah, Essien Akpanbio, Segun Nasset, Geraldo Pino, Etite Boy, Rex Lawson, Ayinla Omowura, Franca Kuboya, Obulu, Comfort Omoge, Steve Kadiri, Orlando Owoh, Inyang Henshaw and Peterside Otong.

According to the President, Delight Productions, Chief Macaulay Okolugbo, invitation letters have been sent to performing musicians expected to thrill at the charity concert. Some of the artistes expected at the event include King Sunny Ade, Femi Anikulapo Kuti, David Bull, Mandators, Oritz Wiliki, Nigga Raw, African China, Timaya, Weird MC, P-Square, Stella Moye, Bracket, Chris Mba, Uche Ibeto and Frank D’Nero.

Other musicians on the list include 9ice, Pasuma, Kwam 1, Wasiu Ayinde, D’banj, Faze, Arthur Peppel, Queen Azaka, J Martins, Mc Loph, Poliano, Wizzy Boy, Duncan Mighty, Question Mark Allstar, Bob Yangaman and Francis Goldman.

Okolugbo also explained that the concert would also herald the discovery of new talents billed to perform at the event, which is also expected to celebrate music fans born on October 1 all over the globe. In addition to the celebration of the birthday of music fans whose date of birth coincide with the country’s anniversary, the event would also feature the cutting of birthday cake, raffle draws and performances by top flight comedians.
