Argentina and Barcelona football superstar, Lionel Messi has been sentenced to prison for tax fraud.It was learnt that the superstar had evaded tax since between 2007 to 2009.

But news making the rounds has it that he may likely not go to jail. The player and his Father were found guilty of three counts of tax fraud as they have failed to pay tax authorities €4.1million (£3.5m), which was tax on image rights earnings.

Jorge Messi exonerated his son of the convicted act with the player claiming he was unaware of such that he signed the document without reading through.

The Spanish law has it that a prison sentence under two years can be served on probation.

The court also ordered Messi was ordered to pay a fine of around £1.7m and his father to pay £1.27m.
