The Niger Delta Avengers have recently attacked a gas pipeline owned by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Akwa Ibom state.
The Spokesman of the group, Mudoch Agbinibo said the attack took place in Nsit-Ibom local government area around 11:30pm on Sunday.
Although the there has not being any official confirmation to that effect but as the custom of the group is, they usually make public any of their activities through statements on their website.
The continuous attacks by the avengers have led to the decrease in Nigeria’s oil production. Despite the move by the federal government to set up a negotiation team, the Avengers have refused to dialogue.
The group revealed that their sole aim of attacking oil pipelines in the country was to make the economy collapse.
