Word in entertainment circles is that the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners National President, Prince Babajide Kosoko, has stated that no noise be made as regards the upcoming ANTP general elections. But it is also being said in some quarters that serious campaign is on going underground.

https://www.nigeriafilms.com gathered that the campaign for the post of the national president is masterminded by some eggheads in the Odunfa caucus of the Yoruba sector of Nollywood.

Investigations showed that the Odunfa caucus members are pledging their support for the incumbent second vice president of the association, Yinka Quadri.

While Quadri has said that his people are urging him to contest, sources alleged that his candidacy has been anointed by the incumbent President, Jide Kosoko.

However, it is being speculated that the incumbent president, who promised not to go for a second term, has decided to anoint Quadri, who is also the chairman of the Odunfa caucus, to succeed him.

Though the president has denied the speculation, saying he wants to fully concentrate on his tenure and complete it, no candidate seem to be ready to take the post aside Yemi Solade.

To further show that the Odunfa caucus, with head office and training school in Ebute Metta area of Lagos, is set to take over the leadership of ANTP this year, another member of the caucus, Ade Aderenle, has been projected to succeed Ajala Jalingo as the Lagos State chairman of the ANTP chapter.

Meanwhile, those in the know have said the leadership tussle might become a big problem as the association’s Vice-Chairman, Dele Odule, who also vied for the post of national president before stepping down for Kosoko four years ago, has not yet disclosed his intentions.

It is believed by many that Kosoko promised to support Odule’s ambition in 2009, after he (Odule) stepped down for him, but things don’t seem to be going according to plan.

The Ibadan-based Odule is not fazed over the coming elections and he has remained mum on the issue even as it is being speculated that he isn’t going to contest.
