Another prison break has taken place as gunmen invaded the Medium Prisons in Tunga, Niger State, killing one and freeing 270 inmates.

The armed men arrived the Minna Medium Prisons at exactly 4:30pm yesterday shooting sporadically in a bid to scare away residents on David Mark Road in Tunga.

While trying to escape, the gunmen reportedly shot a man who tried to raise alarm and stop them in Karfin Tella community in Tunga area.

A prison officer, who would not want his name mentioned, told the the press that the attackers were clad in police apparels.

“They were dressed in Police bullet proof uniforms and snatched two cars, which they used in conveying their gang members. They succeeded in freeing over 270 inmates.

“I saw them and I do not know where other young men with guns numbering about 10 joined them.”

The prison’s spokesman, Rabiu Shuaibu Muhammed, confirmed the story.
