A Dar es Salaam, Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court has adjourned a murder case facing local firm actress Elizabeth Michael alias Lulu to June 18 this year.

Lulu is charged with murdering a local movie star, Steven Kanumba, on April 7, this year at Sinza Vatican.

The case was yesterday appeared before resident magistrate Augustina Mmbando for mention where prosecution informed the court that investigation is still going on.

“The case is before the court today for mention because the investigation is not complete,” said state attorney Peter Sekwao.

Sekwao asked the court to set another date for mentioning the case while magistrate Mmbado adjourned to June 18 this year.

While the case continue at the Kisutu Court, The High court on June 11 this year will rule on application by the accused Lulu seeking the court’s order to determine her age.

Advocate Peter Kibatara filled application following the lower court turning down their request to transfer the murder case to juvenile court.

According to the lawyers the accused has not attained the age of 18 years to merit prosecution in the court, however, the lower court said that he has no jurisdiction to entertain any application because the charge before it involves murder.

But, in their application Mr Kibatala stated that the lower court has power to investigate the age of the accused according to section 113 of the child act.

The advocate wants the court to take consideration of her age in the case proceeding as to maintain the accused basic rights as a child according to section 4(2) of the child act.
