The United Nations, UN has temporarily put on hold their aid deliveries to Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs camps in Borno State because of the recent attack on those conveying the supplies.

According to the report made by Reuters as quoting UN, some unknown gunmen ambushed the humanitarian convoy yesterday after they had delivered the aid in Bama.

One of the staff of UNICEF sustained an injury in the attack.

UNICEF said, “The United Nations has temporarily suspended humanitarian assistance missions pending review of the security situation.”

It would be recalled that UNICEF had earlier this month declared that about a quarter of a million children in the state suffer from life-threatening mal-nourishment and fear that around one in five will die if they do not receive treatment.

Medecins Sans Frontieres said that there are many under fed children that may likely die because of inadequate food supply.
