Just as the video of the inexplicable snubbing scene by the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Aremu Akiolu, on the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, at the world conference of Banking Institutes hosted by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), continues to generate a lot of public interest and debate as to the possible reason behind the action.

The Ooni’s wife, Olori Olori Wuraola-Zynab Ogunwusi has reacted in her own way as she seized the moment to extol and pay glowing tribute to the man she married last year.

The Olori who took to her Instagram to praise her husband expressed deep admiration for all those qualities that endears him to her. Hear her:

“My husband, my soulmate, my mentor, my king, the people’s King; A King like no other. The Custodian of culture, the keeper of Yorubas across the world, and the voice and symbol of peace. When you recognize what and who you are, your vision becomes bigger than the daily struggles of the mundane. When you uphold that vision, you see beyond the physical and you envisage and work towards a future that is liberating for all. – Olori Wuraola-Zynab Ogunwusi #OoniofIfe #AroleOduduwa #OjajaII#KingofKings #OloriWuraola#QueenWuraola”

The Queen has spoken. Very well for that matter. There is no question of the Lagos Oba’s action undermining her husband’s position and person in her mind. To her, he remains a king of kings in the Yoruba race, a claim which is valid by historical research.

Still, the nagging issue which we must now crack is investigating the ‘why’ behind the now infamous snub. Is it something that has to with age or the overwhelming global acceptance and relevance of the young Ooni? So many questions to be asked as we investigate this further. Stay close.
