Ishaq Oloyode, registrar of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the ongoing plans by the examination body to stop the use of scratch card from 2017.

He said this on Tuesday at the national executive council meeting of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) in Abuja.

It has been a long time practice for students to buy scratch cards to check their result on line. This time, the body said that the students would generate a PIN number for themselves through their phone or computer before they can check results on the online portal of JAMB.

Oloyede said that the new initiative was necessitated through the public complaints of students who said that banks and vendors hoard the cards, only to sell them at a higher price.

He encouraged   NASU to invest more on Computer Based Testing Centers in order to reduce the rate at which students are being exploited by business owners of these computer centers.

He added that the board would have no reason to border if NASU own a CBT centres which would make the conduct of these exams very easy.

He added that if academic-based stakeholders, such as NASU, own CBT centres, the board will be confident the examinations will be conducted without hitch.
