African Movies Academy Award (AMAA) returns and this time, the award is not returning to Abuja where it held last. It is returning to a state that many refer to as the ancestral home of the award.

Preparation for the 2009 edition of AMAA award is already in top gear as the organizers penultimate week declared the award open and called for entries.

April 4 has been chosen as the date for the award which now has Shuaibu Hussein as the head of the screening committee. Additional tougher measures have been put on place to retain the credibility of the award many has dubbed as the African version of the Oscar.

New condition, such as acceptance of only ‘directors’ cut’ for submission and insistence on fully subtitled movies for indigenous movies. More of such tough stand could be found on the website of the award, amaaward.com. As you read this award, recipients hopeful have started submitting entries on the website and in the office of the award.
