Chimezie, who was born on October 1, 1960, shared lovely new photos of himself, his wife Charity Ishinwa and five children to mark his special day.

He captioned the images: “Hello Good people of the world, I am 60 years old today! I feel blessed and I’m thankful to God, the maker of heaven and earth. I’m also grateful to you all. The Ziggima engine still revs.

Bright Chimezie had in September celebrated his aged mother on Instagram.

Sharing a video of himself and his mom, he wrote: “Mothers are special, normalise appreciating them any chance you get. P.S Stop asking me where I got my dancing skills.”

Bright Chimezie, a native of Ekeoba, Umuahia, Abia state, made hit songs like ‘Ube Nwanne’, ‘Because of English’, African Style. His album “Respect Africa” brought him to limelight as he used these songs to ridicule problems in the society.

His music style, which became known as Zigima Sound, was popular in Nigeria in the 1980s and early 90s.

Zigima Sound is a mix of traditional Nigerian music and Igbo highlife fused with chanted vocals. Bright Chimezie used it to revolutionize the musical structure in Nigeria with lyrics that focused on social issues of the country in a rather funny way.

He is also known for his dance steps, popularly known as legwork. His stylish way of mixing excellent steps and a warning chant gave him the title ‘ the duke of African music’
