Following the mess of the present state of the country, the Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to go back to his drawing board and start afresh in his leadership.

He implored him to do all it takes to resuscitate the economy before things go awry. He said this on Thursday during his 80th birthday celebration at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos.

He said: “If President Buhari wants to make a quick turn back, he should take his inaugural speech and the All Progressive Congress, APC, manifesto, study them and then start afresh.

“That is my advice,” he stated, adding that the Nigeria is in need of leaders who would unite and not divide the country.”

Okojie noted that the type of leadership needed in Nigeria is those who are willing to sacrifice their all in order to meet the needs of the people.

“At this stage of my life, I can only advise and admonish our policy makers, especially in the education sector, that are now battling with the lives of innocent children, to allow education to flourish; for if education does not flourish, our country cannot flourish.

“You have already seen it in some parts of the country. We have seen it in some of our children’s behaviours,” he added.
