44 shops were burnt down during the fire outbreak at the at the popular Farm Centre GSM market in Kano metropolis on Friday.

An eyewitness who spoke about the incident said the fire started at the close of business around 5:30pm as it burnt many valuable items like phone and others worth millions of naira.

The witness furthered that the fire outbreak was caused by spark from a converter supplying power to some of the shops.
Although no life was loose in the incident but not less than 4shops were gutted by the inferno.

The Director of the state Fire Service Alhaji Mustapha Rulwan confirmed the incident stating “We received distress call around 5: 20pm and we immediately mobilised our personnel to the area.

“We were able to put out the fire within 45 minutes.” he said, adding that it was the use of inverter that caused the inferno as many of the shops that were affected were made of wood and zinc.
