If you are one of those who think the Okoye boys, made up of P-Square and Jude would be satisfied with just churning out good videos and music hits that set the pace in the Nigerian music industry, you are dead wrong.

P-Square is taking the game several steps ahead of their contemporaries by being the first musical group in Nigeria to host another musician of international repute. And that musician is none other than Busta Rhymes.

In an interactive session with newsmen, the duo of Peter and Paul alongside their brother cum manager, Jude told Showbiz Now that they are bringing Busta Rhymes to this oil rich country in order to make the kind of entertainment that has always been the exclusive privilege of people who reside in Lagos available to people of South-East and South-South.

‘In the past, all these kinds of shows where international acts come to perform usually take place in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja. But what happens to those living outside of these states? We are taking it upon ourselves to see to it that these set of people are entertained as well. As you know, P-Square don’t do things half-measure, we want to kick-start this in a peculiar way by bringing one and only Busta Rhymes.’

The show, which is being put together by Northside Entertainment; an outfit owned by Jude, Peter and Paul Okoye has been tagged ‘Da Independence Blast’. ‘It is named Da Independence Blast because the show is scheduled to hold on September 30, 2008 to commemorate Nigeria’s Independence Day’, Paul Okoye commented.

The event will attract actors from various sectors of the entertainment industry like comedians, Nollywood stars and musicians.
Aside P-Square, Timaya, J martins, 2shotz, Black Solo and Banky W will also serenade the audience.
According to Jude, RMD, AY, Gordons and Talkative will also be on the stage to add entertainment sparkle to the event, while Africa ’s number one DJ, Jimmy Jatt will be the spin master at the event. Tickets for the show would go for N5000.

Meanwhile, feelers reaching us indicate that the oil-rich state is already in high pitch in anticipation and countless of people are already in mad rush for the tickets.
So, what should one expect as these two heavyweights jam together on the same stage?
‘Musical fireworks’ was the response of Peter. ‘We are already known as energetic performers. And considering the fact that this is our first event as promoters as it were, nothing short of musical fireworks should be expected of us. We shall literarily set Warri on fire.’
The show, which will be managed by Howie T’s Kiss Events and will hold at the Grand Hotel, Asaba in Delta state.

P Square won the “Grab Da Mic” competition in 2001 and later that year they released their ‘Last Nite’ album which was released under ‘Timbuk2 Music Label’ owned by their first Manager, Bayo Odusami aka Howie T.
The duo was nominated as “Most Promising African Group” in the KORA Awards three months after the release of their debut album and they eventually won the 2003 Award for Musical Excellence in Nigeria (AMEN) for ‘Best R& B Group’.
