The Nigeria Police Force has disclosed the reason behind the arrest of the founder of Agidigbo FM, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat. Oriyomi was arrested by the Federal Investigation Bureau of the NPF and taken to Abuja.

In a video posted online by the popular broadcaster claimed that the FIB operatives said he was arrested for “interfering too much” in the murder case of Timothy Adegoke, who was found dead at a hotel on Ile Ofe owned by Mr Rahmon Adedoyin.

Reacting to the outrage that followed Hamzat’s arrest, the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi in a statement said the broadcaster was arrested over his failure to honour police invitation.

The statement read “The popular Ibadan-based broadcaster, Oriyomi Hamzat, was arrested in ibadan today by our Force Intelligence Bureau operatives in connection with a case of Cyber Bullying under investigation.

“Oriyomi’s arrest was sequel to his refusal to honour Police invitation severally, which prompted the police to secure a warrant for his arrest.

“We are looking into the petition written against him on his violation of the Cyber Crime Act, 2015, and necessary action will be taken to do justice in the matter.”
