A source close to Baba Suwe has revealed that the comedian died a lonely man. Baba Suwe, a veteran of the Yoruba movie industry passed on hours ago at the age of 63.

The thespian known for several successful movies and awards passed on to the grater beyond after intermittently falling ill in the past couple of years.

Recall that the actor almost became a sympathy case after celebrities in the guise of helping him recover stormed his house with cash and food items turning it into a social media fiasco.

A resolute Yomi Fabiyi however ensured that through his promotions was able to attract attention to the actor leading to the donation of N10 million by philanthropist Easter Ajayi for the thespian to undergo a surgery in United State of America.

Following the surgery, he returned to the country and appreciated all who supported him. However, he was soon on his own, as the celebrities who took photos with him in a show of solidarity quickly moved on.

Baba Suwe’s health challeneges started after he was arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over allegations of smuggling drugs. Though the actor later won a suit against the agency, compensation ordered by the court were not paid till he died.

A short statement by the deceased’s son Adesola Omidina confirmed his death this afternoon Monday, November 22.

The statement said: “This is to announce the sudden death of my father Mr. Babatunde Omidina, the legend and rare gem “Babasuwe” 11/22/21. Other details will follow shortly, may your soul rest in peace, Dad.”

Born on August 22, 1958, Babasuwe was married to fellow comedienne Omoladun Omidina, who died in September 2009.
