Silvio Gazzaniga

Italian sculptor, Silvio Gazzaniga designer of the present version of the FIFA World Cup trophy is dead.

Silvio who designed the trophy in 1971 died at the age of 95. He passed on Monday October 31 after several minor ailments.

His son Giorgio released a statement to that effect as he annouynced his fathers death. ‘He just didn’t wake up this morning. It was a peaceful death.’
