It’s no more news that not many actually believes in the credibility of most Nigerian awards as there have been cases of awards being bought.

Award generally in Nigeria has been perceived as being given on the basis of money or connection instead of merit.

In recent times, we have heard of some celebrities disregarding some award nominations due to doubting its credibility.

If you recall the 2016 MTV Africa Awards where Yemi Alade won ‘best Female Act’ for the second time which caused a social media outburst, where many were of the opinion that Tiwa Savage was robbed of the Award.

In regards to something similar, Nigerian Afro-pop singer, Tiwa Savage has stylishly addressed the discrimination in Nigerian award system.

According to her, females hardly win the category of ‘Best Album’, ‘Best Single’ and ‘Best Artiste’ as it’s been all about the men.

She further said she would love flexible system for females to be opportune to be categorized in the above categories also.
