The MTV EMAs has withdrawn the ‘Best African Act’ award given to Nigeria’s Wizkid on Sunday, November 6, 2016 and gave it to his arch rival, Ali kiba of Tanzania.
The organizers of the Award has come out to apologize for the mix up created by wrongly announcing Wizkid as the winner of the award through their verified twitter account.
Explaining the confusion, they said , “Both Wizkid and Alikiba are great artistes and deserving winners at the MTV EMAs and we congratulate them wholeheartedly on their achievements. We apologise for any confusion but we are pleased to recognise the achievements of both these artists on this global platform.’
‘6 ‘Worldwide Act’ winners, including Wizkid, were selected by an international committee of MTV music executives to recognise current artists who are rising to have a wider geographic appeal beyond their local regions.
The winners were chosen based off a range of criteria including international MTV video play, radio airplay, streams, and sales across multiple territories and regions.
Those Nominated for the award were: Wizkid, Olamide, Black Coffee, Cassper Nyovest, and Ali Kiba.
The duos have been in rivalry for some time now. They had an issue during the last Mombasa Rocks concert where they almost wrecked the concert as they fought over who would perform before the famous Chris brown.
It is obvious that the Tanzanian singer has won Wizkid now in the two fights. What will he do now? Will he take his defeat in good faith or sue for damages?
Wizkid is yet to respond to the sudden disappointing news.
