In the video posts captioned “My Take On Domestic Violence”, Yule ultimately places the keys to overcoming the sad trend in the hands of women. Condemning in its entirety the action of battering or physically abusing a woman by some men, he however hammered on the need for women to always remember the place of respect for their partners, which according to him is very key in the African setting, Hear him: “There are issues of domestic violence a lot these days. Of course I don’t support, and will never support it. A man should never hit a woman, no matter what…but at the same time women also have a very big role to play to make sure these things don’t happen. You’ve got to respect, respect your husband no matter what. We are Africans, things are quite different around here…you’ve got to respect your husband even if he doesn’t know what he is doing”

Speaking further, Yul explained that the principle of respect worked in his own home where his mother learnt to always zip up her lips when there is a serious misunderstanding between her and Pete. “My father never hit my mum one day…not because he was a saint, but because my mother always knew when to zip up her lips”, he said.

There you have have it, Yul’s antidote to domestic violence. Do you agree with his reasoning?
